Combination wrenches combine the benefits of box wrenches and open ended wrenches.
One side is a closed loop for hexagonal or square nuts, while the other side is an open u-shape. The closed end can be used to loosen the nut and the open u-shaped end would then be used to unscrew said nut fully.
Combination wrenches are often used for nuts that are hard to loosen.
